The Rail Trail winds through the beautiful countryside, capturing the heritage and wonder of the region.

Head off from Korumburra’s historic brick railway station and pass the town’s outer fringes on this mostly downhill section. You’ll ride through lush valleys with sheep on steep-sided hills and cows roaming amongst gum trees. The Rail Trail passes through pine hollows and tree-lined avenues as you head towards Leongatha, be sure to check out the mural in the Railway Precinct.

This is one of the steepest sections of the Rail Trail. Start with a climb through the pine trees, then the landscape transforms into almost a rainforest feel. Your climb is rewarded with stunning views over Corner Inlet towards Wilsons Promontory, make sure you stop at the Hoddle Range Lookout. Once you’ve soaked in the view, enjoy the downhill stretch to Foster.

  • Take a break at the Cidery on your downhill stretch to Foster.
  • Still have energy, walk the Foster Flora Reserve

This short and flat section along a wide gravel path makes for easy riding. A shared concrete path passes through Alberton’s town centre, with a highway crossing at the southern end of town.

You pass paddocks of cows on your left, with a think wedge of shrubbery to your right. A large anchor statue and Norfolk Pines in the middle of the roundabout marks your arrival in Port Albert. A shared concrete footpath takes you to the town centre and waterfront.
